On December 29th, the "Top 10 News of China's Petroleum and Petrochemical Industry in 2023" was officially released. This is the 11th time that the China Petroleum Enterprise Association has organized the selection and released the "Top 10 News of China's Petroleum and Petrochemical Industry" to the public.
The top ten news in China's petroleum and petrochemical industry for 2023 are as follows.
2. Central Petroleum Enterprises Strive to Write a New Chapter of "Consolidating the Energy Bowl"
On March 1, 2023, China's Bohai Sea made another major discovery of billions of tons - the Bozhong 26-6 oilfield, which was discovered by CNOOC for three consecutive years in the region. The three major central petroleum enterprises in China continue to advance into deep, deep-water, and unconventional fields, achieving a series of new discoveries and breakthroughs, effectively promoting the exploration of similar basin resources and the increase of unconventional oil and gas reserves and production in China, consolidating the basic foundation of energy supply, and composing a new chapter of "securing the energy rice bowl".
3. China's oil and gas exploration ushers in a new era of deep and deep-sea exploration
On May 30, 2023, the first ten thousand meter deep well in China, "Shendi Taco 1 Well", will be officially drilled in the Tarim Basin, Xinjiang, with an estimated drilling depth of 11100 meters, breaking through more than 10 strata. China's petroleum and petrochemical enterprises are continuously advancing into the deep sea and have repeatedly broken the "Chinese depth". Sinopec's "Shendi No.1" well in the Tarim Basin leaped into the 3-3XC well, and the drilling depth reached 9432m, the record of the deepest well in Asia; The development well A12 of China National Offshore Oil Corporation's "Deep Sea One" Phase II project has completed drilling operations, with a depth of over 4300 meters.
4. The integration of oil and gas with new energy is showing a rapid development trend
On August 30, 2023, China's first 10000 ton photovoltaic green hydrogen demonstration project, the Xinjiang Kuche Green Hydrogen Demonstration Project, was fully completed and put into operation. This project can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 485000 tons annually.
5. Oil companies are making efforts to innovate and lead equipment manufacturing research and development
In 2023, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) independently developed the world's first 12000 meter ultra deep well automated drilling rig, which was put into deep geological exploration projects and drilled into depths of 10000 meters underground; Sinopec actively promotes the localization of major equipment, and a number of world-class equipment such as electric fracturing equipment, high-end drill bits, large-scale hydrogenation reactors, and large-scale refining unit DCS continue to make breakthroughs; China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has made breakthrough progress in multiple key projects, with the "Offshore Oil 720" deep-water geophysical exploration vessel carrying "Marine Economy" exploration equipment completing its first ultra deep water operation, and the construction of the main body of Asia's first cylindrical "Offshore Oil and Gas Processing Plant" and "Offshore Oil 122" FPSO ("Super Energy Bowl") completed; Yancheng Green Energy Port has been selected as one of the top ten super projects of central enterprises.
6. "The Belt and Road" oil and gas cooperation plays a win-win song
As of 2023, PetroChina has participated in the management and operation of 88 oil and gas cooperation projects in 32 countries worldwide, building a production network covering five major oil and gas cooperation zones in Central Asia Russia, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, and the Asia Pacific region. Overseas oil and gas production equivalent has remained above 100 million tons for the fourth consecutive year. Sinopec has jointly built 314 petroleum engineering contract projects in the "the Belt and Road" countries, imported 180 million tons of crude oil every year from the "the Belt and Road" countries, carried out more than 20 million tons of refined oil trade, and nearly 7 million tons of LNG trade. CNOOC is jointly building the "the Belt and Road" countries with 60.21 million tons of crude oil trade volume and 15.99 million tons of imported LNG. China's petroleum and petrochemical enterprises and partners play a win-win song of oil and gas cooperation in the "the Belt and Road".
7. Continuously improving the construction of a nationwide network for oil and gas transportation
On September 15, 2023, China's major energy infrastructure project during the 14th Five Year Plan period, the natural gas pipeline project of the Sichuan East Gas Transmission Line 2, officially began construction. This project is a crucial step towards achieving a new pattern of "five vertical and five horizontal" natural gas pipeline network in China, and also serves as a transportation channel for billions of cubic meters of atmospheric fields and billions of cubic meters of gas storage facilities in the Sichuan Chongqing region.
8. Oil companies accelerate the implementation of a new round of deepening reform deployment
On July 11, 2023, the second meeting of the Central Committee for Deepening Reform reviewed and approved heavyweight documents such as the Implementation Opinions on Further Deepening the Reform of the Oil and Gas Market System and Enhancing the National Oil and Gas Security Guarantee Capacity. The release of this document signifies that the reform of oil and gas production has entered a new stage.
9. Deep integration of refining and refining has become the main tone of industry development
The largest world-class refining project in China, the Guangdong Petrochemical Refining and Chemical Integration Project, was fully put into commercial operation on May 30, 2023, marking a new milestone in the transformation and upgrading of China's petroleum refining industry.
10. Millions of petroleum and petrochemical workers continue to write the new era answer sheet of "I Contribute Oil to the Motherland"
October 8th is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Iron Man Wang Jinxi. Millions of petroleum and petrochemical workers hold commemorative activities in different ways to commemorate Iron Man Wang Jinxi.
